The Aquarium
The Aquarium is the upstairs 260-capacity room at 226 Broadway in downtown Fargo, sitting directly over Dempsey's Public House, which runs the bar and the back-of-house for it. Independently owned and operated since 2006 by current co-directors Ryan Hoffart and Josie Gereszek, it has been the room that catches Father John Misty, Bon Iver, Trampled By Turtles, Built to Spill, and Phoebe Bridgers on the way up. Phoebe has played this stage before, which puts this stop on a different footing from the others on this run.

The Gorman Dogfight, October 1, 1948
Around 9 PM on October 1, 1948, twenty-five-year-old North Dakota Air National Guard pilot George F. Gorman picked up a small, fast white light over the high school football field on the north side of Fargo, where his P-51 Mustang was circling Hector Field. A Piper Cub flown by A.D. Cannon was already in the air and tracking the same light. Gorman radioed the tower, controller L.D. Jensen joined the watch, and Gorman gave chase for roughly twenty-seven minutes while the object ran head-on passes, climbed past 14,000 feet where the Mustang stalled out, and held about 2,000 feet above him. The light eventually vanished southwest of town. Project Blue Book filed the case as one of its earliest, and chief investigator Edward Ruppelt called it a classic; the official ruling eventually settled on a lighted weather balloon released from Fargo at 8:50 PM, with Jupiter doing the late innings, a verdict Gorman never accepted.
